Successful and driven single mom Jenna Thompson writes teen novels, and she has only five weeks to deliver the next one to her publisher. So, this year's annual beach vacation with her kids Nick (Luke Loveless) and Ally (Reagan Shumate), will be a working vacation for Jenna. Upon arrival, the family soon meets their new next-door neighbor, confident, devil-may-care surfer Lucas McKinnon, with whom they will be sharing walls and a patio for the next month. Lucas cranks up his music at night, sleeps late, and allows Tank to run around at will. Jenna bangs away at her novel with little success, often blaming Lucas' loud volleyball matches and irregular hours for her inability to progress. However, after Lucas finds himself bonding with Nick and Ally, Jenna begins to see a different side of Lucas, and when the two find themselves alone together one evening for dinner, each begins to see the other in a whole new - and attractive - light. Starring Amanda Righetti and Peter Porte.
Divorced mom Jenna Turner, and her two adolescent children Ally and Nick are vacationing for five weeks at the Georgia seaside with their friends Maureen, Ian and their son Grayson again as they do every year. This summer, Jenna has decided to rent a different vacation property and the kids will be attending a different summer day camp closer to that property, the change solely designed for Jenna to be able to finish her book, her second, a sequel to her successful teen novel. Upon their arrival, Jenna loves everything about the property except their neighbor, the other resident in the two unit building. He is Lucas McKinnon, a seeming surfer dude party boy who lives there year 'round with his pet dog, Tank. Besides the differences in their personalities, what Jenna objects to is the disruption Lucas and Tank cause in leading their carefree life in her ability to meet her deadline, the writing which is not as easy this time as it was with the first book. While Jenna constantly tries to control what she can about Lucas and Tank with Lucas letting those measures easily slide off his back in his relaxed nature, Ally and Nick fall in love with the pair, Ally who wants to spend time with Tank to show what a responsible dog owner she can be when they get their own dog, and Nick who sees in surfer Lucas someone who is willing to give him some pointers in his summer goal of shortening his 100m swim time in order to make the school swim team next year. As the five weeks progress, Jenna stumbles onto more and more information about Lucas that belies that initial bad impression she had of him leading to her slowly falling in love with him. While Lucas too starts to fall for Jenna, the one obstacle still may be one of those first impressions that Jenna had of him which is indeed true: that he is not the type of man to be tied down to a family, with Jenna, Ally and Nick being an instant family if he does take the chance with them.
